Dr. Melissa Robinson has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, and a Providence RN since 2007. She currently serves as the Nurse Scientist for Central Division, Clinical Inquiry & Research. Melissa has held clinical and leadership roles in hospice and palliative care and served in academia as a professor of nursing and associate dean. As an educator and mentor, her values include maintaining a deep respect for diverse experiences and perspectives, empowering nurses to grow in ways that align with their individual goals and providing the resources and support that nurses need to build confidence and achieve success.

One of the most rewarding aspects of serving as a Nurse Scientist in the Central Division is the opportunity to collaborate deeply and purposefully - partnering with colleagues to advance clinical inquiry and nursing research to meaningfully strengthen nursing practice across Providence. Dr. Robinson's scholarly work has focused on family-centered care, educational research, program evaluation, and qualitative methods, with particular emphasis on palliative and hospice care, nursing education, and practice change. Her scholarship is disseminated through peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, conference presentations, and faculty-led workshops, with the goal of strengthening evidence-based practice and advancing nursing practice across healthcare settings.
