Abstract
The Emergency Department (ED) in a large teaching hospital in Houston, Texas went through an amazingly successful evolution. After we had critically assessed patient care delivery, personnel management, and work design, we instituted changes which resolved problems within the ED, as well as ED’s problems with other hospital departments.
