Abstract
While an analysis of recent dissertations and theses in service-learning may seem to fall
beyond the scope of interest for a collection on the state of service-learning in primary and
secondary school, what happens in higher education classrooms often shapes the practice of
service-learning in K-12 schools. Today’s undergraduate and graduate students are tomorrow’s
practitioners and scholars who will refine the field of service-learning. In addition, the research
conducted by graduate students mirrors the state of the service-learning community as a whole.
