Abstract
CD47 is expressed on normal hemopoietic cells and lymphoid malignancies, and high CD47 expression in tumor samples correlates with poor prognosis. Blockade of the interaction between CD47 on tumor cells and SIRPa on innate immune cells, such as dendritic cells and macrophages, blocks a “do not eat me” responses and effects checkpoint inhibitions, facilitating phagocytosis. Combination strategies of immunotherapies targeting CD47, and other targeted/biologic and chemotherapeutic agents are promising strategies over those that involve single agent antiCD47 therapies.
