Abstract
Objective: To describe the use of the Lone Star Retractor System (Lone Star Medical Products, Inc., Houston, TX) as a tool to aid in exposure and dissection during a radical vulvectomy. Methods: The Lone Star Retractor System is easily assembled and positioned so that disposable stay hooks can be used for superficial and deep retraction. Results: This retractor gives excellent exposure, reduces tissue trauma, reduces operative time, and may eliminate the need for a surgical assistant at the time of vulvectomy. Conclusion: The surgical management of vulvar cancer can be enhanced with the use of the Lone Star Retractor System.
