Douglas Hanes is a Senior Biostatistician with the Providence Research Network and the Cardiovascular Analytics, Research + Data Science (CARDS) group, primarily supporting cancer research at the Earle A Chiles Research Institute and the Saint John’s Cancer Institute, in addition to research across the Providence system.  He has a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Michigan and 20 years of experience in quantitative medical and health research.  Dr. Hanes has collaborated on previous research in neurology and neuroscience, psychology, integrative health systems, and perception.  Currently, his main interests are in the design of medical studies, machine learning algorithms for the analysis of high-dimensional data, and interpretation of data analytic results.
