About
My research primarily focuses on: 1. Innovative endoscopic techniques and technologies and physician education to adhere to established endoscopic quality indicators. 2. Epidemiology, Natural history, Prediction models for outcomes of GI disorders to answer questions regarding the natural history, epidemiology and the risk factors for progression of various GI disorders. My background in Epidemiology and bio statistics and my skills in using data analysis help me with these projects.3. Cost-effectiveness and Comparative effectiveness research. I am interested in real-world studies that evaluate costs and compare effectiveness of different endoscopic techniques - their association with healthcare utilization and clinical outcomes. In particular, Designing and delineating learning techniques to educate the current and next generation Endoscopists: Identifying factors at the provider and systems level that predict better outcomes. 4. Computer aided diagnosis in advanced imaging techniques. Standardizing endoscopists’ techniques and developing a homogenous system to assess their performance is a big challenge faced by our field currently. The inter-observer variability in detection of lesions by endoscopy is high and fraught with various biases. Computer aided diagnosis using machine learning might be an option to solve this problem.
